A computer manufacture called some of their clients to ask about how much they are satisfied with their computer.
Company: Hi, I'm calling from U Computer, you have recently purchased a computer from us.
Client: Oh Yeah.
Company: Are you satisfied with your computer?
Client: Yes, but I don't know why this computer came with a coffee cup holder and after many use it's not working.
Company: Odd, we don't sell computer with a computer with a coffee cup holder.
Client: Hmm... Yes, there is. It is labeled CD-writer and there is a little button when I press it, a tray comes out and I put the cup on it.
Computer: Sir, it is a compact disc player and writer. It is used for Audio CDs, Software CDs, but not for using it as a cup holder.
Client: Oh, so that's why it broke! Thank you. Bye.

True story from a Novell NetWire SysOp:
Caller: "Hello, is this Tech Support?"
Tech: "Yes, it is. How may I help you?"
Caller: "The cup holder on my PC is broken and I am within my warranty period. How do I go about getting that fixed?"
Tech: "I'm sorry, but did you say a cup holder?"
Caller: "Yes, it's attached to the front of my computer."
Tech: "Please excuse me if I seem a bit stumped, It's because
I am. Did you receive this as part of a promotional, at a trade
show? How did you get this cup holder? Does it have any trademark on it?"
Caller: "It came with my computer, I don't know anything about a
promotional. It just has' 4X' on it."
At this point the Tech Rep had to mute the caller, because he couldn't stand it.
The caller had been using the load drawer of the CD-ROM drive as a cup holder, and snapped it off the drive!

Tech Support hotlines are not easy work, you get calls from all sorts of idiotic users that apparently can't read a manual, or lack common sense. Here is a transcript of just one such case:
Caller "Hello is this Packard Bell Tech support?"
Tech "Yes how can I help you?"
Caller "The cup holder on front of my computer broke off and it is still under warranty, how do I go about getting it fixed?"
Tech "Excuse, you've stumped me. How did you get this cup holder, was it part of some promotion?"
Caller "It came with the computer, I don't know of any promotion."
Tech "Does it have any markings on it, any names, any symbols?"
Caller "Yes, it says 4X!"

TOBACCO SETTLEMENT MONEY TO HELP PROTECT KIDS FROM DANGERS OF SMOKING
North Carolina - In accordance with a multi-billion dollar class action settlement against the tobacco industry, The Big tobacco companies have pledged to devote millions to making sure children are not harmed by cigarettes.
While much of the money has been spent on television ads and tobacco education, one company, RJ Reynolds, the parent company for long time children's product staple, Nabisco, has chosen to interpret the terms of the settlement a little differently.
Taking their cue from the cellular phone industry's recent efforts to assure customers that their product can be used safely at all times, RJR has developed the "hands free" cigarette, a product which they envision marketing primarily to children.
"The problem with the youngsters is they are so active" said RJR spokesman Don Buttles. "They're always riding their bikes, or digging in the dirt, or playing catch. more...

A Florida Marlins season ticket holder was ejected at a home game for heckling the umpire too loudly. No word on yet what the Marlins will do to their other season ticket holder.

One day a guy calls tech support. this is how it went...
Cust: Hello?
TS: Hello
Cust: Yeah, my cup holder broke and my computor is still under warranty, so I would like to get it replaced.
TS: Ummm cup holder?
Cust: yeah cup holder...
TS: Ummm did you get it with a promotional offer?
Cust: No
TS: Umm are you sure you got the right company?
Cust: Yeah
TS: Ummm... im sorry if i sound confused, because i am.
Cust: Well its square, and its on the front of the computor, and it comes out when you press a button...
At this point the Tech support guy had to put the guy on hold, so he could finish laughing...
The guy had broken his CD-rom drive, thinking it was a cup holder.
