The New Indian Railway is committed to bring the following changes with immediate effect in an endeavour to make it the most people-friendly railways in the world......
1. Re-introduce steam locos - to boost coal industry in Bihar.
2. Dismantle the reservation system, all seats will be open to
janata, no more reservations by upper cast and rich people.
3. A/C coaches will be abolished, A/Cs will be auctioned in
chhapra.
4. Shatabdi express to be renamed as Rabri Devi express.
5. 10 new trains to be introduced from different parts of Bihar to Patna.
6. All double lines to be reduced to single track to cut costs - the rails, sleepers etc to be auctioned in Muzaffarpore.
7. Samjhota express will run from Patna to Peshwar, however it will be converted to a goods train to carry fodder.
8. New maha bhoj - litti and sattu - to be served in all luxury trains - palace on wheels, deccan odyssey etc.

While working as a mall Santa, I had many children ask for electric trains. "If you get a train," I would tell each one, "you know your dad is going to want to play with it too. Is that okay?"
The usual answer was a quick yes, but after I asked one boy this question, he became very quiet. Trying to move the conversation along, I asked what else he would like Santa to bring him. He promptly replied, "Another train."

Andy wants a job as a signalman on the railways. He is told to meet the inspector at the signal box. The inspector puts this question to him: "What would you do if you realised that two trains were heading for each other on the same track?"

Andy says, "I would switch the points for one of the trains."

"What if the lever broke?" asked the inspector.

"Then I''d dash down out of the signal box," said Andy, "and I''d use the manual lever over there."

"What if that had been struck by lightning?"

"Then," Andy continues, "I''d run back into the signal box and phone the next signal box."

"What if the phone was engaged?"

"Well in that case," persevered Andy, "I''d rush down out of the box and use the public emergency phone at the level crossing up there."

For Theresa Muir who requested Canadian / Newfie humour: Back in the days when trains ran in Newfoundland, a passenger was travelling from Corner Brook to St. John'n when, all of a sudden, there was a tremendous thump and bang followed by a really rough ride for a few seconds. This was followed by another thump, bang and the ride became smooth again.
Just then, the conductor was passing through the car, so the passenger asked, "What happened back there?"
The conductor replied, "Oh, we just ran over a mainlander."
The passenger asked, "What, was he lying on the track?"
The conductor replied, "Oh no, he was out in the field but we got him!"

Where do ghost trains stop? At devil crossings.

On an intermediary station on the Bombay route, two mail trains for Bombay and Delhi pulled up. The station being a meal-halt, the trains stopped for a long while; a Sardar, heading to Bombay, got into the wrong train, going to Delhi. In it he confronted another Sardar.
After the initial Sat Sri Akaals, one asks the other the destination and each gives the same. The person on the wrong route, then exclaims "Oh, what progress India has made! Same train, same compartment, same cubicle, one berth goes to Delhi and the other to Bombay!"
